I'm Told Ulysses

III xlv

I'm told Ulysses bound his feet
then had his strong arms tied
so he could hear the sirens' song
and know why others died--
I've heard their song was terminal
and yet, our Greek survived.

to those Croesian feasts you give
then read your putrid lines. Enough!
Not even our Greek could live
until dessert, if he heard your
Rhetorical Narrative.
