Don Mager is a professor at Johnson C. Smith University. In addition to having a series of his poems put to music by composer Mark Satterwhite, he has a chapbook To Track the Wounded One published by Ridgeway Press in 1988 and a book Glosses, published by St. Andrews Press in 1995.
Mager's poems can be found in many journals and magazines, including the new renaissance (tnr), North Dakota Review, Black Warrior Review, Mid-American Review, Kenyon and various anthologies including, most recently 80 on the 80's: a Decade's History in Verse.
Mager is also active in translating various German and Czechoslovakian poets into English. Some of his translations can be found in East European Poets, published by Oxford University Press
